General Description
The GSD4t is a low power RFCMOS SOC, it includes
baseband, software, ARM7 processor, and RF
functions forming a complete Aided-GPS tracker.
The GSD4t is SiRF's 1st generation of the new
SiRFstarIV architecture. Optimised for sizeconstrained
applications, it uses a host CPU to run the
navigation libraries. Product manufacturers benefit
from significant power consumption improvements,
small package size, ease of integration and low-cost
implementation.
A GSD4t solution comprises a GSD4t hardware
implementation with SiRFHost software running on a
host CPU. The GSD4t includes an internal satellite
signal tracking engine to provide highly accurate
GPS measurements. Data buffering and queuing
eliminates the need for a high rate GPS interrupt,
allowing the GSD4t HOST Interface to run at low clock
speeds with a very small HOST memory footprint.
SiRFHost software on the host CPU calculates the
final PVT. SiRFHost uses the mature and proven SiRF
navigation library. SiRFHost requires minimal OSdependent
host system loading during tracking, easing
system integration in a variety of products. The
software task structure is simple and robust allowing
operation on a wide variety of CPUs and operating
systems. SiRF offers standard porting packages of
SiRFHost™ to common OS/CPU platforms. Custom
ports are available with a porting agreement.
Applications
■ High-performance, low-power, self-assisted GPS
SiRFstarIV uses 95% less power than traditional
GPS receivers to retain hot start conditions, and can
maintain acquisition sensitivity as low as -160dBm,
even without network assistance. Its 8mW
TricklePower™ mode, 60% improved over the industry
benchmark SiRFstarIII, enables substantially longer
battery life. GSD4t is simple to integrate and use with
a single-SAW design, active jammer remover,
integrated LNA, fail-safe I/O, single supply voltage,
and extremely small 20mm2 solution size. PVT
